What’s your take on tattooed cats? They look kind of cool and there’s a part of me that wouldn’t mind having a tattooed cat, though I can’t help to wonder about the possibility of cruelty involved.

I assume that the cat to receive a brand new tattoo is put to sleep, certainly they’d have to be put to sleep during the procedure. By being put to sleep, there shouldn’t be any physical pain, though I wonder about the after effects.

I have two tattoos and it’s been awhile but thinking back, it seems like I remember them itching and in general being uncomfortable. The point is that I chose to be tattooed. Short of a cat suddenly speaking I don’t believe that any cat can actually jump up and ask for a tattoo. With that fact, I can’t help but to think that it would on some level be considered cruel. It would be kind of like someone I trust taking me out, drugging me and then having a huge tattoo placed across my back, I would probably feel a little mad and violated.

With that thought in mind, I would have to say it probably would be considered animal cruelty to tattoo a cat, all in the name of vanity. I certainly understand the desire that brings people to get their cat tattooed, I mean there’s definitely a part of me that would love to have a little tattooed buddy. I may even be tempted if it wouldn’t be an act of animal cruelty. I actually don’t even know anyone who has a tattooed cat, which is probably good considering. I do know that if I ever came across one that needed a good home, I would have to adopt him, simply because I can’t deny that their pretty cool looking all tattooed up.
